TOPIC: Chat button on my website

I am wanting to set up a chat now button on my website where potential clients can chat with me when I am on. I have found several articles on here, I'm not sure how up to date they are with constant improvements. I have google +, what is the best route to go for chat?

Martin... IMO, if you don't plan on being available at least a few hours during the day, everyday, and I mean normal business hours... then don't bother. I can't tell you how often I come to the HIP site and "Live Help" aka "Live Support" is not available. Explains why so many here go to "other" MB's asking questions that really belong here. I'm not picking on Dom or crew or HIP, just showing how a good idea can actually bring about a negative perception, and we all know that "perception is everything", right?

The HIP live chat is on from 9am to at least 4pm PST, normal business hours. Our new employee John will actually be keeping it open until 9pm a few days a week. Live chat rocks though.

As Jeff said you need to always be on it. There is a trick to this. Some chat programs will connect to Google Talk, MSN Chat, AIM, etc which you can get on your phone. That way no matter where you are a question can be answered. I'd do that too except that the questions guys ask usually involve a much longer chat session than needed!

Hope you didn't take offense to that Dom. I was just looking for something that he could relate to for proper perspective.

Wasn't aware of the sync to your phone option some chats utilize.

Nope, I knew what you meant. I just wanted to make sure that potential users reading this thread ALSO knew what you meant!

The previous GChat and Plugoo and Meebo all did this. Now none of them are working so we'll need to find a new option for you guys.
