TOPIC: Create a Link Submission Form

Thanks to Russ Mckee for these instructions! This uses the webform portion of the site (there's a general tutorial for them) but is the exact steps to put create a link submission form.


1. Log on to your web site

2. On your Home page, go to “Admin Menu”-“Create Content”-click on Webform

3. Webform Settings
Title: (Link Exchange Form) or (Link Submission Form)
Description: (Your link info)
Confirmation message or redirect URL: (Thank you for your request BLA BLA BLA)

4. Webform mail settings
E-mail to address: (type your e-mail address)
E-mail from name: (highlight “Component:” Button)
E-mail from address: (highlight “Component:” Button)
E-mail subject: (highlight “component:” Button)
or set these buttons up how you like

5. Meta tags
Keywords: (your typical keywords)
Description: (your typical description)

6. Menu settings
Title: (Link Submission Form) or (Link Exchange Form)
Description: (Link Exchange)
Parent item: (Navigation) or scroll down and put under any item preferred
Weight: (set to preferred location on your menu)

7. Comment settings (default “disabled” button)

8. URL path settings

9. CAPTCHA
Get your calculator out and fill in CAPTCHA math question
Click (Submit) button

From Your New Page Called;
“LINK SUBMISSION FORM”

1.  Click on “edit”
2.  At very top menu, click on “Form components”
3.  Under “Name” click in the widow type in the words, Your Company Name
4.  Under “Type” choose “textfield”
5.  Under “Mandatory” Check the box
6.  Under “Weight” choose “-10” next line item “-9” and so on
7.  Under “Operation” click the “Add” button scroll down and click “submit” button

Repeat these steps 1-7  one at a time and submit for the items below.
except for “Submission Date” and “ Your Link Information”, you’ll have to change their "Type" accordingly.

Your Company Name: *
Your Name: *
Your Email: *
Your Website URL: *
Your State or Country: *
Submission Date: * Under ”Type” click "date"
Your Link Information: * Under ”Type” click “textarea”

When your all finished click the publish button and submit.

Could I use this same information to setup a newsletter sign up form?

Sure can! There's another broader tutorial on creating forms as well. Some of the guys are using it for digital contracts too.

Small problem .... I can't get the webform to show up in my navigation menu.
I remember seeing a "float" option to rearrange which link is higher or lower in the list ....but can't find the damn thing now.   ??? ??? :'(

Ok I found the "menu" field set the "Menu Link Title" to : "Link Submission Form"   which is the same as the page "title"  set the Weight to "0"  but it still doesn't show up in my Nav Menu


Figured the problem out Had to change <Parent directory>  to <navigation>  ....in case anyone else has this problem.

You got it Primary Menu is along the top horizontally on most themes, navigation is the vertical menus. You can create additional menus if you want.
