TOPIC: How to Add a News Feed to your Website

Re: How to Add a News Feed to your Website 13 years 6 months ago #35995

What does this mean? "The feed from Homer Glen News seems to be broken, because of error "mismatched tag" on line 253". I do not seem to be able to fix it. I have this for a few of my news feeds.

I also get this on the other website "Channahon Home Inspector homes for sale seems to be broken, because of error "500 Internal Server Error".

It means they're feeds are bad. Post the URL to the feed here.

These are just a few, they all had been working fine for a few months. I am guessing the source has changed something.

The primary downside to adding feeds is that you are relying on someone else (ie the creator of the RSS feed) to not make any changes to their sites.

For the first site you have listed, it appears they are having some sort of problems with their server and the RSS feed page. You may just wait to see if the error goes away, or you may want to go through their site and setup the link to their RSS again. In the case of your last two sites listed, they changes the way RSS works on their site. Information for both sites can be found at the following links:

plainfieldsun.suntimes.com/stayconnected/index.html#RSS
lincolnwaysun.suntimes.com/stayconnected/index.html#RSS

At the bottom of these pages, you can see links for XML. You can copy these addresses (right-click where it says XML and Copy Link Location), then go to your News Feeds (under the Admin Menu) on your site. Find your existing feed, then click Edit. You can then highlight the existing RSS link in your feed, then paste in the new updated feed from their site.

Dan or Dom, the News feed / News aggregator on my site has not updated since March. Is there something I should be doing to it?
