TOPIC: New Stationery

New Stationery 10 years 2 months ago #56573

I've worked on this for a while and I've got soooooo many different options, but here is my current stationery and layout I am going with, Cover and a couple pages. I'm loving it. It's only taken three years of HIP use to get here.?  :)

Actually, right as I was finishing this, I realized a couple things. You can insert a couple files into your logo and cover page photo which are mostly blank, like literally a photo of a single white pixel in a png format, and it will fill the space on the cover page just like there is a photo there. Then you could conceivably design almost anything in the center of your cover page that you want. This is what I did with my logo, the logo is actually part of the stationery, but there is a png file loaded into HIP which has a nearly transparent dot in the middle. The file is just a placeholder of sorts to keep my house photo in the right position.

...and I'm jut getting started with this stationary thing and don't understand:
  • What you just said.
How to make a bulleted list on this message board, the bullet feature doesn't seem to make bullets,
How you got the border around your cover photo so accurately.

Photoshop Elements.

I build everything with it. Any drawing program which lets you change the transparency level of an object will work.

1. Pull up any standard report and do a screen capture of the cover page.
2. Crop the screen capture down to the outer edges of the cover page after you paste it into your drawing program.
3. Stretch the cover page object out to the edges of an 8.5 x 11 page within the drawing program.
4. Increase the transparency level of the cover page and then build everything using it as your layout guide.

Everything should line up perfectly as long as you don't change the size of photos you insert on your cover page for each report or the number of lines of information you include.

Changing the transparency level of objects in a drawing program basically means making them partially see-through or faded.

Technically, once you have the cover page screen capture you really don't need to make it transparent you could just build everything on top of it. It just makes it a bit more accurate if you're looking through it and lining things up exactly.

As far as what I was talking about in the first post, if you don't insert a cover page logo and a cover page photo, all of the lines of text will move up and as you can see in my cover page, that would throw off everything.

The problem is, you can't just put a blank white photo in that slot because HIP will place it on top of your stationery. A ".png" or ".gif" image can actually have a transparent background. I use that type of file with only a single dot in the middle of a photo-sized rectangle and slot it into the company logo space. It fills up the space with basically nothing and does not cover over the logo that I have on my stationery.
