I have been very pleased with a one page setup. I may add one other page at some point as I expand into infrared, or just do a separate site with another single page. Google and other search engines look at the first page of a website primarily and clients don't need an information overload so I haven't seen the need to expand as of yet. There are only a few questions people usually have and frankly I want then to call or email me so I can contact them directly. Here's my basic plan for the page.
- give them enough info that they want to call for prices. Experience, qualifications, etc - family picture to help them relate. The majority of calls are married women with children so I want then to see a person providing for a family, not just a company. - don't post any prices! I never give prices even when asked on the phone. First I explain my services in detail and then give my prices and my competitors as well. My goal on the phone is to get an email so I can send then a sample report and to make the idea of calling a bunch of other places seem futile. - everything word is counted and keywords are used at a 4-5% rate to make the page search engine friendly but not keyword heavy. Those are just a few insights into my web brain. It's all very new to me in the last couple years, but it has been working out well. |
