I'm building a new template for use while doing "investor" inspections. It is a cut down version, much abbreviated from what I would use for a typical buyer. Investors (read Flipper) is not really interested in the cosmetics. "Just the facts ma'am".
The problem I'm having is that when I add a comment in one tab, the same comment is duplicated in the other tabs on that page?? It's driving me nuts and not making me a happy camper! Example: Exterior-Systems-Electrical section has three tabs > Service drop, Main panel & Exterior electrical. If I add a comment to Service Drop section, it is duplicated in the other two sections. What's happening? and How do I fix it? |

:'( Now this duplication condition is spreading. If I add a descriptive comment, it adds it to all the other areas as well. This template is totally screwed as am I. Now I start all over again.

You named your damage panels the same thing which linked them together. The names must be unique (there's a check during creation that checks for this too). Even if you rename them after the internal name stays connected. You can rename, then copy the entire page and delete the old and the program will reset the internal names.

Okay, I'll play around with it and get it sorted out.
I was not able to find a useful tutorial on the proper sequence for building a template. I just went straight at it and built one based on an outline layout I did on paper. Seemed logical. These little "gotchas" can really mess you up. |

There's 2 animated tutorials on how to edit templates. If they're not covering something, let us know and we'll add another one.

Okay, I watched those. Somewhat helpful. I had already figured this out by just working with the templates.
I guess I was looking for a "start from scratch" guide. That may be too much for one of these quickie tutorials. In my case, the duplication of comments issues was not apparent and I was a bit bummed out when it started happening. I did not discover it until I actually was finished building the framework and was fleshing out the actual comments. I started with an "clean slate" of a blank template and worked from an outline of the main areas I wanted to cover, added sub-sections and then moved to the actual comments. Seemed like a good way to go. Just that one little thing screwed me up. Oh Well, back to the drawing board. |
