Do not feel bad as I forgot how to start a template from scratch yesterday and have been using HIP for 3 years now.
I was looking for the new template button. Tom with multiple units you are best off to try and stick with a systems and component model mas much as possible. Room by room is easy for some inspectors but is not easy on the Agents and clients. When a Plumber is called in he wants to see the plumbing section and have it all together.(make sense ?) I cheat by often listing Kitchens and bathrooms seperately as thats where most interior issues are. Be sure to add a common area tab. |

Ok thanks. I have been in business just over one year and have done about 50 inspections but I have not done any multi units. I am getting ready to do one next week and wanted to have my ducks in a row. I appreciate the input.

Sure thing Thomas.
Just remember to keep talking to clients and keep an open mind on reporting. Same as any other business in that you want to meet client expectations. Many Inspectors are stiffs and stick to a hard format but once you start branching out I feel the key is to be flexible with in bounds. I can not count how many times a client said he only cares about the major issues and I threw in goofy maintenance tips anyway. Fine as long as you have time but once busy you will be going crazy if you keep the same model. When doing income property, Think $$$$$ because your client is.(Hope that makes sense). Example would be that I doubt a investor type client cares about your "cool"(yes ironic joke) replace fridge filter every year tip. |
