TOPIC: Section Printing Options

Hope this makes sense--
Other than manually deselecting a Section for printing, is there a way the program can recognize that none of the items in a Section have been selected and automatically not print that Section?  I know we have a global "don't print" for individual items which aren't selected, just wondered if there was a way to do this as you move up the menu heirarchy to Sections?

This purposely wasn't added in after discussing it with different inspectors. Quite a few of the guys create a page title only to add a document to it. Others wanted to see if they missed a section entirely (which this would show). It's something we could add as an option though if other guys are interested.

The reason I asked is that for someone like me who is setting up a Template outline, it makes a difference what I call Sections, Items, etc. as to how they will appear in the final report--If you start to get too detailed, things that should be Items can end up as Sections, etc.-- which I suppose is OK as long as you can deselect them after previewing the report.  A little more work but do-able as long as you keep track of whether or not you have any item entries for a section.

Try to stay away from becoming too detailed with Sections. Allow them to be items. Otherwise you'll find yourself redoing things later once you realize you've created a monster of a template.

Too Detailed?  It's the curse of being an engineer, but having played around with it some more I definitely get your point.  Seems to me that making sure you can get to your individual comments as quickly and simply as possible is the key for both the inspection and the report.  The more detail you can add to an individual comment the less clicking around and subsequent editing you have to do.  Sounds good in theory, but I'll keep you posted if it gets to be that template monster you're warning me about.

LOL. Yes, I definitely understand. You're right making the best report in the least amount of time is the goal.
