TOPIC: Evaluate Please

Hey All,
Here is a report I'v created from a few I altered off of here & have been using for some time. It seems to be long & cumbersome & more time spent on the report & not enough spent inspecting. Do you think its overkill ??? Have a Tosh Tablet , use it sometimes & sometimes use printed checklist paralell to my report, its faster onsite using the printed checklist but have to enter everything at home. Did 2 inspections in one day & it seemed like it took forever. Am considering trying a narrative style rep. with my Dragon & try to create most everything onsite, except pics. Russ Spriggs has a 500 pt. insp. template on here & it looks like something I might be able to alter to my needs.

Russ's template is already in Home Inspector Pro as Residential Template 2. You will definitely save more time overall (inspection + report) by using the tablet on site. The more reports you do, the faster you'll get with it.

Using Dragon on site is difficult. Your mileage may vary but most guys tell me that whenever they've tried voice recorders or a speech to text program like Dragon on site it tends to get the agent and/or sellers jumping into every comment you make. It also makes it more difficult to communicate with your client.

Your report doesn't look too bad but I think it can be improved. Check out Residential Template 1 which is our new default (click Open Template). It looks like you're using a variation of the old default template.

I'm all ears, what suggestions do you have ? In your opinion is my report too long, with in reason, about right?? How would you alter it to save time? It covers alot in my opinion, but it seems like I'm spending all my time entering info on the report.

Are you clicking Save Template after each inspection to make sure any new narratives you add there for your next report? Are you using the Batch Add photo feature?

Yes to both.

What part of the report is taking you the longest? Your report length looks about average.

Did you check out the two new residential templates in the program?
