TOPIC: Saving time

Just thought I would share.

I have found it much faster to have a selection panel to start each section of report. I use a Q1 in the field and with a smaller screen this method works well.

Then I have one damage panel for each section this way it is easier to see, use in the field.

For example

Heating page

First section is Heating system description.

This would be all the specifications and age.

Then the next sections are the damage panels.

I may also add a section just for recommendations at the end.

I am able to complete entire report in field. 2-3 hours.

Just need to add pics and proof read. Usually less than an hour. I use the pics as a review in case I left something out.

Hope it helps out. It has taken me about a year. May save some new guys some time.

I wanted to thank Serge for calling me yesterday. We have been swapping ideas, templates and samples. He has done a great job on his report.

I need to utilize his color scheme.

I have already updated my template and do so daily.

The key is to provide a detailed report and do it in a timely manner.

Dave, you have answered my number one question concerning the time it takes to complete the check list.  I am a new inspector and currently checking out the HIP software to use.  As I work through the process of completing a report using the standers template.  I am thinking I need to figure out a faster way to complete the reports.  It is my goal to use my I touch during the inspection and download it to my computer afterwards to add pictures, proof the report then send and save the report.  Your approach is going the right direction.  Any change of getting a copy of the template?
