Yes Louie has the idea.  I want to make package deals for my customers to choose from.  The trick is to market it right.  Also, like you said Michael, I want to offer other incentives too.  Like testing the electrical system with a Tasco Inspector II or III.  Or buying a snake and videoing the insides of ducts or furnaces.  Maybe inspecting the HVAC for thoroughly.  Pools... The list can go on and on.  Some of these will require specialized tools and training but you get the idea.

My main thing is I don't want to charge more for doing part of the inspection that I would have to do anyway.  Like charging more for additional water heaters or charging for crawl spaces.  I know many inspector charge for those but I feel its wrong to charge extra for something they are required to inspect anyways.

Its all in how you present things to your customers and potential customers!    Just gota figure out how to do it right.

Then market  according to your States SOP. If you are doing a home inspection for a real estate transaction then you have to follow your laws, if you have any. If you want to market to home owners or sellers, then you can come up with services like Louise mentioned. I myself do component inspections.

Yes Oklahoma has inspection laws.  So if I do an inspection I would have to do everything.  That short report covers everything the law states, it just presents it all grouped together.  Im not real comfortable inspecting one or two items like the component inspection.  I think that could get me in trouble.  The law states what you should inspect.

I'm not saying its wrong to do it that way.  I just think it could be walking a tight line and I don't want to take that risk.

The component inspections are for current homeowners who want a roof inspected for example. The component inspection is not for real estate transactions. Or I can do them for a seller, since there is no law governing what has to be inspected for the seller.

Okay fellas, I sat down with the ol wife and talked about this stuff with her.  We talked and crunched numbers and decided that it would be too risky and too difficult to try and market the two templates (at this time).  What I need to do is get a little computer to take to the inspection.  I'm hoping this will shed another hour off the report generation time.  And get me closer to where I want to be.

We figured if I could shed another hours off the entire inspection process, if would be the same as getting a $13.75 an hour raise without actually raising my prices.
