TOPIC: Chimney Balloon

I have a wood burning fireplace with an insert. I have a top of chimney damper and the typical damper. I keep my fireplace cleaned every year. I get downdraft and odors depending on the condition. The ballooon claims to save heat & stop drafts.

For $50 I am willing to give it a shot.

Have any of you ever heard or seen this product? What do you think?

Hi. David,

I watched the clip and have a hard time understanding how you are supposed to fish that balloon up through the fire damper and up above the smoke chamber of a properly built fireplace.
Maybe I am missing something.

I would direct my fifty bucks towards a fireplace insert if my fireplace were built like the video.

Nice illustration Marcel were did you obtain it from?

It was tested with a blower door occurding to Energy Magazine and there website. I am willing to try it out. Nothing else has worked. The Chimney Balloon site had a question forum that I posted on. The guy had a tip on using white vinegar in a plastic bowl to nuetralize the odors.

I usually have a mental picture of things, but hard to find sometimes.

I have a fireplace and plan on an insert next year to help save on oil heat.
My fireplace smokes up the house and used it once in twenty years.
Was built wrong from the inset.
I stuffed it with insulation and close the doors.  ;D
