Nice pictures Joe and impressed on the things you picked out. Good Job.

That view is a little better of the Comp. shingles. Still not clear why that flashing looks like it is open on the bottom. Were they trying to create a diverter or what?

How can they make this flashing to shingle water tight by not using step flashing?
I don't have a problem with a reglet flashing done right, but this one appears to be at an angle in that first pic above.
What prevents the water from seeping under the flashing on top of the shingles.?

Curious.

Marcel, if I'm understanding what you are referring to it's not open on the bottom. It's an elbow diverting to gutter.
Blow up the pic of the front elevation. If i'm right about what you are thinking that will clarify.
