Good Video on step flashing for roof shingles at the gables.
It always tee's me off when trying to verify if step flashings exist when they slap the siding type tight on top of the roof. Then you can't verify if flashings exist not can you easily replace the roof shingles down the road. www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/pac_ctnt/text/0,259...?c=483&videoid=63326 |

Thanks for the video.
The 1 inch reveal seems to be lacking in most applications, hardly ever see a kick out flashing. I am with you, difficult to tell on the presence of step/counter flashing(s). Do you have any good report verbiage you care to share??? |

David, I would write something to this nature; The Roof to Wall Step flashing cannot be verified for proper installation nor it's existence due to the wall siding having been installed tight on to the shingle surface. It is a standard of practice to leave the siding up from the shingle surface 2” to a min. of 1”. This is needed to prevent water on the roof from being wicked up into the siding material. Since wicking is not a problem with vinyl siding, the gap should still exist to allow future removal or replacement of the shingle roof surface. It also allows to see the step flashing and monitor any damage to it, should any leakage occur in that roof to wall juncture. While on the subject of comments, in the last report, is there a way to copy and paste these comments without having to type it out each time in the add comments? Since most of my inspection reports are always different and require new comments, the time it takes to re-type is killing me on time. I tried it, but dosen't work. Thanks. |

Nice verbaige!!
In regards to copying and pasting. If you go to your PDF of the report you created and hit Ctr C then you can add the comment into the template using Ctr V. When you add the comment in the field add it to your damage or selection panels so you will have it for future reports. I added your verbiage for my future reports. Thanks!! |

Thanks David, but not sure I understand those directions.
The comments on my reports get typed in while I am doing it, so I have to edit coment, it opens a window and I have to type it in, it won't let me past it in. My comments are made as I do the report not before or after. This is why I am confused. |

Are the new comments that you add saved into the template or are you creating unsaved comments just for each report?
Sometimes I make the mistake of seleting a comment and then clicking on the text and then editing it. This way it is not saved into the template. Just try to save all your new entries so you do not keep editing in the field. |
