Thanks Jay, now I have to go clean out my candy drawer as wel as rip down all this drywall. On a serious note, I said I would keep you posted, and as of right now the drywall in Moms' home is NOT the dreaded Chines type. Will be confirmed with testing, but I don't think it is. Thank goodness.

Why would I want to eat my Grandchildren?

On a serious note, I pasted a quote from your blog. It is a nice idea to boycott China and Chinese products. On a personal level, I already try to do that. America as a nation I feel will NEVER break from, boycott, sanction or place embargo's on Chinese products. Has everyone already forgotten the hundreds of billions in spending that the US is in the middle of? Guess where the money to back that spending is coming from? China. This does not make it right, and we should all be vigilant of the products that we purchase. Unfortunately drywall is just the beginning.


It is a very serious problem.  It has made the mainstream news.  Most recently, AP, 11 April 2009, reports that bills have been "introduced a bill in the House calling for a temporary ban on the Chinese-made imports until more is known about their chemical makeup."  I'm thinking we aren't that smart, but we'll see.  A friend of mine said that the Chinese would probably regard a disruption in America's purchasing of their products as an act of war.  After all, a full 20% of their economy relies on the American consumer.

Our economy produces more in 3 weeks than China's does in one year.  They really cannot finance that much of our debt.  It will eventually come from taxes, and don't think that won't be onerous!

When you buy something, you do it from current funds, savings, or by borrowing.  At the interest rates offered on Treasuries, there is not that much buying of our paper.  That leaves one source - current funds.  Where will B.O. get those?  Go look in the mirror...
