Why does anyone put their prices on their sites anyway?

I do because people have already seen what I charge when they call.  I get lots of inspections off my site alone - 4 or 5 a week.  When they call they have already decided on me.  I debated for a while as to whether to put them or not, but decided to. 

It saves a lot of the negotiating back and forth too.  Often I get my bristles up when people say, "I found someone else who charges less.  Will you meet that price?"  My answer is, "If they can meet my experience and qualifications.  If you are looking for a cheap home inspection, there are plenty out there.  If you want experience, you might have to pay for it."  Guess what!? 

I put my prices on my site so people know I'm being honest.  Nothing I hate more than trying to get a bid from someone who just pulls it out their rear!  People know how much I charge up front.  As for my prices, the market around here sets them.  I charge middle of the road.  Someday, when I can offer extra services, I will charge more for those! 

Wow!  400 inspections in your first year?  What's your marketing secret?  If you don't mind saying so...

I am roaming through the message boards for the first time and have looked at some of the pricing of other inspectors.  This is not to inflate Dominic's head, however, with the reports, I have increased my minimum price to $375.00.  All of the agents that I have worked with for the past year recommended that I do as such.  Here in Houston, there is a MASSIVE number of home inspectors and I have performed nearly 400 this year, which is my first year as a home inspector.  I tell everone that my prices are higher due to the details and simplicity of the reports.

Just wondering.

Very hard work and do not get discouraged.  I was licensed last October and I did 3 inspections last year.  I am at 367 for this year. 

The market here in NE Ohio is very slow.

I believe I am priced properly for my area. There are a lot of inspectors around here.

I will do about 210 inspections in my 7th year of business. My best was 325 in 2006.

The market here for 2009 looks bad. I will be lucky to do 150 inspections.

Maybe I will move to Houston and take some business from you Cody ;D
