The water heater is what... 50K BTU? Depending on locality, may be just fine. The TPR valve may have been rated @ 500K and the CPVC? was rated to be installed on an appliance less than 100. They both seem to fit that definition...

In my neck o the woods, it would have to go OUTSIDE/EXTERIOR. Doesn't a non-rigid type of discharge need to be properly secured? The times I've seen non-metallic materials used for discharge they are braced/supported or just flat out wrong... and an easy call.

Anyway, the second line resembles closely to what I'd say, except I would note that it's LEAKING, people know that a Leak is bad, I know it's a stretch, but maybe they wouldn't realize *Discharging* is a problem.

Just a thought!

An exchange of ideas like this is a good one, Dave!

That's a really good point Tim. What words you use are definitely important. "Discharge" can be normal, but "Leaking" never is.

I like to write reports in common laymans terms because the clients will not understand all this technical jargon that I see so many times on the boards for narrative explanations.  :) ;)
