Prior to entering into a Home Inspection. You should have a contract signed by the buyer, real estate agent, etc. Depending on which contract you use, how does this interface with HIP? I haven't begun yet. Trying to get issues resolved before hand. Also where does the digital signature come in play? ???

Click Edit Contract within HIP and enter your contract in there. You only need the contract signed by the buyer, I've never heard of an agent signing a contract before as they are not your client. File->Save Contract to save it.
The contract automatically pulls the info from the Client Information page to populate the top of the form. You can use the new variables in 2.6.6.8 (read up on them in the beta section of the forum) to insert words like $ClientName1 which will even auto fill the clients actual name when you generate the report rather than using the generic 'Client' term. Click the Printer in the Edit Contract section to create a PDF of the contract. You can upload this using the separate HIP Upload program (look under your applications in your start menu) or just email the PDF or print it. It's up to you. The new digital signature under Report Settings->Inspection Signature allows you to sign your name once and it'll always print on the report. We're working on the client signature for the next version. |

Thanks Dominic, I have been so busy on studying for this exam. I haven't really read up on this new 2.6.6 version yet. You are also right, the buyer is the only person who signs the contract. By the way I have taken your advice on preparing a laminated checklist for when I start my inspections. I prepared a book and it looks good. I will forward you a copy of the PDF on it. The layout is pretty much simplified of how I will inspect until I get my feet on the ground. |

Hi Harvey,
I checked out the checklist and it looks good. The only suggestion I would make is that if you go to Report Settings->Options you can check continuous mode so that one section will start immediately after the previous (rather than on a new page). This will cut the number of pages down by about 10 in your report. Though some guys like the extra space at the end of each section for extra notes, so it's up to you! |

Thanks again Dominic. I found the beta portion on this new update. I printed it for future reference. I was just viewing Serges's inspection report. I must say that it appears that he has his stuff together! |

Serge has done a great job. He's made 3 templates and posted them here, all excellent!
