TOPIC: Any available info?

Any available info? 15 years 9 months ago #7929

All,
I was invited to speak at a "First-time home buyers" seminar.  It's a small real estate company that invited me and they said they had only three folks attending for now but hope for more.  That works for me--maybe three inspections!  I'm putting some things together, like a folder of info, and hope you who've done this in the past can send me info that has worked.

Thanks!
Greg

I've never done one, but what does come to mind is being interactive with the people that are there.  Get them involved.

Maybe bring some of your equipment and let them use some of it there in the office.  Show them how to operate it.  Make it fun for them.
Crack jokes.  Make games that pertain to what your going to talk about.
Get them talking and not you doing all the talking.

Point is, your not really selling your business.  Your creating relationships with these people.

Pop Quiz:
Who hires friends to help them out?

Answer:
Friends!

Greg,
I have done quite a few of these in the past. Mostly with mortgage companies that are putting on a first time buyer seminars.  If they have access to a way for you to present pics via computer, then try and do a little slide show of what "home inspectors" find, explain why a home inspection is needed.  I have a folder with high res pics that I keep in my truck for small presentations like the one you are going to attend.  Just pass them around and answer any questions that might arise.

I always start off by explaining, what a home inspection is(not an appraisal), what the licensing requirements are, what is normally covered during a home inspection etc... Your presentation time will more than likely be limited, so plan accordingly.

Try to keep it neutral, but also have your business cards to hand out.  Maybe offer them a discount(small 10% or so) for using you as a result of this seminar.

Best of luck.

Rob
