Looking for input on pressure treated lumber in a crawl space. With out going into great detail, PT lumber was used in a crawl space for a retaining wall, odviousely it is burried and I am not sure if I should call it out as a Condusive Condition. Thanks for the help

Treated lumber is treated for insects, and contact to earth will lead to eventual rot

The question is, even though it is pressure treated lumber, is it approved for ground contact? Most of these guys that do quick repairs wouldn't know there is a difference and just get the cheapest stuff.

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball infield, the click of a wooden bat and the taste of a hot dog at a warm sunny daytime double-header.

I think it is structural grade, ground contact rated, although I did not see a stamp. I called the local building suppplier and they do not stock and 4x12 treated that is not structural grade, ground contact rated, so it may be a safe bet to call it as such. Of coarse I turned in the report the day after my post (19th), but am curious how you would have made the call, coach?

Tell me more about the retaining wall. Sloped crawl space? or portions dug out and the wall was installed for containment? Tell me more.
