TOPIC: Report Writing/Narrative Libriaries

The reason for my post is to compile lists of report narratives. Numerous firms and inspectors charge for the lists.

I thought maybe this would be a good place to try to obtain/list some narratives.
Since Electrical seems to be the area most inspectors are weakest lets start there.

I would like to start with the most common.
Also I would like to have the defect/concern, why it is an issue and the recommendation. Also limitations, Illustrations are encouraged.

So first would be the Main Distribution Panel.

Dead Front Cover:
Missing panel screws.
Improper panel screws.
Incomplete legend
Missing Legend

I only posted a few as I want to see if others are interested or if I am wasting my time.

This is kinda what I am after.

"Improper neutral terminations" Concern

One or more neutral wires are incorrectly connected under a single screw on the grounding or neutral bus bar at the main panel. (Unless the manufacturer states otherwise, bus bars are only designed for one current carrying conductor per terminating screw.)"  Reason

(Lots of verbiage/difference of opinions on this and bonding)

Recommend review by a qualified electrical contractor.  Recommendation

I Posted an illustration pertaining to the above.

So what do you think? Maybe by next spring we could have an entire library.

Sounds like a good idea David! The current HIP residential template combined narratives from quite a few guys but any more that you can collect here, we can add to the program. You might want to keep a post for each topic area and guys can add their narratives to it.

It has been a long time since I looked at the latest default template.

Maybe I should copy that & post and then we can add.

Check out Residential Template 1 in your program. It has HUGE improvements over our old default.
