Hello Hippies,

I have another defect for discussion.  I noticed 2 strands of heavy gauge (2) spliced into 12 gauge at the main panel. What do you say? I have attached a pic for your pleasure.

Scott,
I can't really tell by the pics.  Was there an A/C unit, maybe a 220v, possibly a microwave feed installed?  Were you able to trace it beyond the service panel? Either way, if it is a "jump" then it is not correct.  I see the panel is full and very well could be a home owner "addition".

Scott - same good.  Different not good.  Splice not professional.  Homeowner job...  At least he used electricial tape!  I'm a bit surprised it isn't duct tape.

The dust getting into that box is also a problem - disconnected dryer vent nearby?

The missing breaker at the bottom is also a problem - was something removed to accommodate that interesting splice?

Thanks Scott:
First the splice is not code.  A splice in the panel is Ok providing only one wire goes to the breaker and both wires are the same gauge.
Their can be no empty spaces in the breaker  panel.
