TOPIC: Apple's new IPad Tablet

Apple's new IPad Tablet 14 years 3 months ago #27249

Dominic,

What is your take on the new IPad Tablet? I know there's not much out there yet, but I thought I would start this thread for anyone to post any good info on this new toy.  Especially, as it relates to our business.

Nice video on www.apple.com/

I've looked over their partial specs. Right now it looks like it's a big iTouch and they aren't adding much to it. If that ends up being the case there's going to be a hack to get Java to run but I don't know how well until I can get my hands on one. We'll find out more over the next few weeks and I'll post here as I find more out. They are scheduled to be released in 60 days.

It is a giant iphone, just without the phone and camera. Doesn't appear to have an OS much different than the iphone either, which means to run HIP, Dominick would have to write an "app for that". I'm in. I'm a HUGE mac fan....have been using macs for the last 12 years. Never 1 problem with them. (knock....knock)
That is how I found HIP. As far as I could find, HIP is the only software of its kind that runs on mac. Thanks Dom!

Unfortunately you can't put Java on the iTouch and more than likely the iPad unless you hack it. And this would be the only way to run HIP on it. There's some hope that Apple will wake up and realize what a stupid mistake they're making by creating such big iTouch. The device can't even multi-task which means that even if it ran HIP you couldn't launch Acrobat Reader to look at the report and have HIP open still!! It's extremely limited to they can sell things through their store. Look for changes to occur as Apple doesn't get the response it wants from people.

There is one Mac tablet, the Axiotron that was Apple approved and made by a third party. It's more expensive but a few guys are using it. It's cheaper just to get a CTL2go thoug.

I know this is off thread, but Dominic mentioned ctl2go.  I have one and so far during setup everything is okay.  I have called twice now in regards to me paying for 2gb memory and only receiving 1gb.

I am pretty patient but it is like pulling teeth to get anywhere.  I still do not think they have done anything with it even though they admit they made the mistake. :(
