If anyone can help out with this;
I don't seem to have a problem making JPEG's transparent. I open an image, add an alpha layer, use the magic wand and the delete key on the white background, save it as a .png and there I have a transparent JPEG. When I try the same procedure with a .gif it will not save as a transparent image only an opaque. Can anyone tell me what step I am missing?

Thanks, Drew

Drew, GIF is just about obsolete with the advent of PNG. PNG will do everything a GIF can plus some. Save the GIF as a PNG or JPEG, make the changes, then save as a PNG.

The other thing could be that you do not have the "select transparent areas" box checked for the wand tool.

There's no such thing as a transparent JPG, only transparent GIF's & PNG's. It should be the exact same method you're using for the png.
