Cyr Topic Author Offline Platinum Member Posts: 2588 Karma: 3 Thank you received: 1	Everytime I send a word document that was saved to my documents, it gets to the other end as an odt. file and no one can open it. I have to go back and switch it or convert it to a pdf. Anyone know what the hell an odt. file is and why this is happening. Thanks in advance. Check this box to be notified of replies to this topic. Probably somewhere in your preferences, email, ect. you have it listed to save as a odt. You can open odt"s with word and vice versa. Check this box to be notified of replies to this topic. Thanks Drew and good morning to you.

That is what confuses me, I can open on my end, but everytime I send it in that format to someone, they write back and say they can't open it. Then I have to convert to PDF.
I'll browse around to try and find it, I guess. Some what embarressing when your sending a resume or letter.
I swear, this new computer does things I don't understand.

Like you said, you can save it as a Word file though sending documents as a PDF is better unless you want them to be able to edit it easily. A resume should DEFINITELY be sent as a PDF. Hi. Dom and thanks, I am using Open Office.org that came with the computer, I think I change it so other people can get a document instead of odt.
I agree, using PDF now that I know how to do it. ha. ha.

Man it sucks being illiterate to this things. Just learning the hard way.
Well, gone to school of Hard Knox all my life, so what's new Eh! ;D
