TOPIC: Home Inspector Pro 4.4.1 Released!

Home Inspector Pro 4.4.1 Released! 9 years 3 months ago #61760

Hi Guys,

HIP 4.4.1 is here! The Windows and Mac version can be downloaded by logging into our site and clicking Home Inspector Pro Downloads. There are tons of small improvements and bug fixes here to make life easier. We have some really cool big new features coming soon that are almost complete but we wanted to get this out first!

For Texas users the TREC 7-5 is here. You can keep using your TREC 7-4 template as long as you go to Edit Template and rename "Plumbing Systems" to "Plumbing System." HIP will handle the rest.

I've included update notes back to 4.1 since Mac users have been on 4.0.8 and would probably like to see all changes.

4.4.1

New Features: TREC 7-5 Template added. To update TREC 7-4 to 7-5 Click Edit Template and change "PLUMBING SYSTEMS" to "PLUMBING SYSTEM", then Save Template.

New Feature: "Add Another" button added to list editor to add comments faster.

New Feature: Option to add an extra space between items with 2 selection panels under Report Settings->Options.

Design Change: When importing images HIP will now read the EXIF data to rotate the image into the correct orientation automatically.

Design Change: Photo Panel buttons upgraded with images and resized so that the Summary/End of Report check boxes show on lower resolutions.

Design Change: Message clarified if user loads a HIP 2 or 3 License into HIP 4.

Design Change: Using the Sort feature on narratives will ignore the Advanced Color prefixes.

Design Change: Ratings disabled by default for new users of Default Template.

Bug Fix: Worked around a bug in the Mobile Adobe Reader and Windows Reader that prevented the cover page from showing up.

Bug Fix: If inspector tries to save to a location they don't have permission for a warning pops up.

Bug Fix: If a corrupted license file is detected HIP will load a demo license so you can load the correct one, rather than refuse to open.

Bug Fix: Inspection files containing lines with multiple asterisks will now merge properly.

Bug Fix: Large iPhone/iPad video files now preview properly.

Bug Fix: Video preview properly closes when clicking outside the video.

Bug Fix: Video player displays properly on Mac, text isn't cut off.

Bug Fix: Double clicking a video won't cause it to play twice at the same time.

Bug Fix: Audio from video preview will not continue playing if video window is closed.

4.2.7

New Feature: Direct link to Remote Help Desk added to About Menu. Only click on when directed by HIP Support.

Design Change: ISN Account Username & Company Key are automatically converted to lowercase when entered. ISN always stores this data in lowercase and connection issues were occuring from inspectors capitalizing info.

Bug Fix: When sync'ing inspections from ISN, HIP will no longer match up real estate agents in HIP and ISN by email address if the address of the agent from in ISN is blank.

4.2.5

Design Change: Removed extra "File Already Exists" prompts when saving.

Bug Fix: Fixed issues merging inspections.

Bug Fix: If you clicked Import/Merge Inspection and then cancelled HIP would lock up.

4.2.2

New Feature: Added $Client1FirstName and $Client2FirstName variables.

New Feature: Option added under Report Settings->Options->Item Options to: "Add a blank line between Selection Panels and Minor/Major Damage Panel narratives." This option improves readability of the report but will make it slightly longer.

Bug Fix: Double clicking photo within narrative section wasn't always working when reopening previous inspection.

4.2

New Feature: Double click on a photo in the narrative section of HIP and it'll take you to the photos slot to be edited/moved.

New Feature: Auto save has been added and enabled by default. Change the timing or turn it off under Report Settings->Options.

New Feature: Click on a video in the Photo/Video section of HIP and it'll pop up and play.

Design Change: File chooser for videos updated so you can see video thumbnails.

Design Change: Increased size of edit and add comment boxes for damage and selection panels.

Bug Fix: Worked around Java memory leak found in HIP 4.1.

4.1.1

Bug Fix: Fixed an issue with Java 8 that was preventing captions from always setting properly.

4.1

Design Change: Contract page no longer has DRAFT printed across it if in multi inspector/employee mode.

Design Change: More spacing added after the summary title so it doesn't overlap the summary table if there's no description.

Design Change: Adding a video will remember the previous video location to speed up the process.

In regards to TREC 7-5...I see that "plumbing systems" went to "plumbing system"  I thought I read that TREC added verbiage in the disclaimer about the importance of bonding gas lines and csst. Was this added as well...?

Yes, that's in the introduction text and is automatically changed in HIP 4.4. The only actual template change is to remove the s in Plumbing Systems.

Good job!
I'll try the latest news in the coming days.

For next update "a table of contents" that this place in the beginning of the document. :-)

The table of contents is integrated into the left side of the PDF in bookmark form and in the summary which lists the page number and item for everything in it. A totally separate TOC seemed a bit redundant. If there's enough people that would like it though we can put it onto the todo list. It just hasn't been that requested over the last decade.
