TOPIC: Things are getting smaller and smaller (report software)

Things are getting smaller and smaller (report software) 15 years 9 months ago #1955

I understand about accomadating everyone and thier computers. But for us old guys with full screen computers things are getting harded to see . The box sizes and pictures are getting smaller. I know this is happening for the people that use small tablets and handhelds so it can fit on thier screens, but I use a full screen with large print so I can see things easier.

Here is a suggestion. Have two size HIP programs. One for regular computer use and one for handhelds. When they call you, you'll ask "What will you be usin HIP on? Oh a hand held, then download this one." The two different sizes can then be listed on the same page with your other software down loads.

Hey Mark,

Are you referring to the photo editor in the beta I sent you a few days ago? The buttons should only shrink depending on your resolution. Are you at 800x600 still? The photo is actually stored internally at 400 pixels wide and shown in the report at 200 wide within the report and 400 on the cover. They used to be stored at a larger size but that caused the report to be 40% larger. I'll switch my monitor to youjr resolution today and check it out. Things should have just removed the extra space , the buttons shouldn't have shrunk.

Theres no reason for 2 versions as I wrote the program to detect your screen resolution whn you start up and resize accordingly. Let me know if its just the photo section .

I'm not sure what Mark is experiencing.

I go between my Q1 at 800 x 480 and my 20" flat panel at 1024 x 768 with no problems.

I have seen no significant changes from the earlier versions on my desk top screen.

P.S. How the next Beta coming along?

My res. is 1024x768. Been using this res and this computer and HIP on this computer for 3 months. No problem. Used HIP on the other computer 800x600 for about 6 months? No problem. The photo edit box and the boxes to type comments in were both a good size and easy to see. Now with the new update from last week, the photo edit box size (on my comp) is about 1-2" smaller all around. In other words before it opened to about 6" - 7" x 6" - 7", now it opens to about a 4" x 5" square. The comment box used to open to about 2" wide x 8 - 10" long. Now it opens to a 3 x 4" square and Dom said something about having to make things fit on the smaller handhelds. I thought the solution would be to make a mini version for handhelds and a regular or large version for the others.

Mike, I sent Mark a beta a few days ago to test out a problem he was having. I have had 3 guys complain about it over the past few months and finally tracked down what the actual issue was.

The photo box should be the same as yours, but the edit comment box was something I'm playing around with for a new feature. I just haven't made it automatically expand yet (which I will, so that will be bigger Mark). The edit photo box is smaller, but the photo should be the same size it was, it's just that all the extra blank space should be removed. Mark, are the buttons on the edit photo panel showing up smaller for you too?

I'll work on getting the comment box back to being wider, like I said, that was temporary as I'm in the middle of implementing a few new features to the comment boxes.

Mike, I hope to have a new Windows and Mac version out this weekend for beta testers, we'll see how it goes. I have about 5 new features I'm trying to get going in the program at once and have been rotating through working on them as I work on other improvements. Part of it is also waiting on the credit card processing info from the bank to get back to me so I can finish setting that up.

Thanks Dominic. I just checked, the photo buttons are the same size but the pics are definitely smaller.
