Some guys have Color Laser HP's in their trucks with an invertor but most just have a cheap inject.

You could use a boroscope to take pictures, there is a good one for about $250 that takes pics and has an expendable probe.

There is a nice illustration for the CPSC on dryer venting. If your interested I could post them for you.

Lots of dirty vents, improper vents, poorly terminated vents, lots of companies that do duct cleaning also include the dryer vent if willing to pay.

I have not printed a report onsite since I began using HIP.  Thats one less thing I have to worry about.  Really no one cares unless the client does not have a computer, then I just send the report to someone who does.

I definately would network with inspectors.  You may find that your business will expand into other areas you had little forethought of practicing in.

I do finds lots of plugged dryer vents.  I always make note and include it in red in the final report to alert the client(s) to the potential hazards.

Hey Robert FYI as a former General Electric appliance repair technician and almost twenty years previous experience as a maintenance supervisor I've never seen any of the newer dryers even come close to catching fire. Older dryers had that issue until they started putting (TCO's)thermal cut out switches on the dryers. The best way to determine if your dryer is clogged up is to check the airflow returning into the lint filter. Or with GE dryers you can let them run for a bit. If they get hotter on top by the control panel than they do down underneath the door you have a plugged vent.
