TOPIC: Web site Theme statistics

Great topic, I've been mulling changing my theme to something "lighter" as well...is it pretty easy Michael?

All you have to do is pick a new theme. But the header may need to be changed and some blocks moved because some themes do not have some sidebars or other features. For the most part everything transfers well.

So... read between the lines here... do you honestly think I will give anyone data that will potentially lower my rankings because everyone now uses the same template???

I don't think so !!

I believe it would be very difficult to compile such data, and most likely it does not exist, at least in the context of this discussion. I think your best bet is to ask your clients to be honest and give you a critique of your site. There are way too many factors that go into the clients decision to choose you for their inspector from pricing to your voice to friendliness, to the look of your logo.

Site design such as color scheme has nothing to do with your rankings or search results, Google could care less about that, they are interested in content, relativity, interaction, and other factors. Everyone could use the same template and no one would suffer because of it.

I am aware of that Mike, and I abbreviated my statement to get my point across quickly. Templates do make a difference in regards to ranking, indirectly. The more appealing a website, the longer a potential client will potentially stay on your site, which in turn will assist in higher rankings (time on site).

If you were to look at inspectors websites that have multiple websites, typically they will all be different, for a reason. I have never seen someone with identical multiple sites.

The time spent on inspectors website is negligible and most likely does not make enough of a difference to effect the rankings. Concentrate more on content and interactivity to get the results you want, if your site is interesting people will stay, even if the color or template is not as pretty as the next guy.
