I want to reduce the number of individual sites that I have. I have some good urls that will be left over to redirect to my main site. It is my understanding that the only "safe" way to do this is through a 301 redirect. Is this done with the host, or registrar? The SEO articles are great for telling you what to do, just not how to do it.

It can be done via either. Is the purpose just to redirect people that go to the old sites?

Yes, my old urls are all cityhomeinspector.com or cityhomeinspection.com. They are older urls and maintaining all the old sites is becoming too much.

I also want to increase the coverage area of this one site.

The rank boost would only be temporary. It won't help the coverage or rank of the new site in the long run. I recommend leaving them up.

I kinda figured you would say that!
With all of the articles going around about duplicate content and such, it seems not worth having multiple sites anymore. I haven't touched these sites as it is in a year. |
