TOPIC: Sample report download in exchange for email address

I would like to have a website visitor input their first name and email address before they can access a sample report. Is this possible?

Yes, you could use a webform that emailed them a hidden page with a report. Personally though, I don't think it's a good idea to make people jump through hoops to see your sample though. You might just drive them elsewhere. Feel free to try it out though!

I have seen others do it this way to gain the visitors email address for further marketing. I see your point and tend to agree....some of these marketing guys tell you to do it this way.

Yup, I've seen people do it and seen Ken and others push it. This is just my personal opinion
