I just started to work on my new website for HIP.
www.homeinspection-losangeles.com
I wanted to create a page and make it a blog. I went to create content under the admin menu and clicked "page". Went through all the steps to name it etc and saved it. Every time, it says page not found. I guess I'm not naming it properly or something. Hints? :-[ Maybe I'm dense but I do not understand the terminology here: "Canonical URLs are used from the search engines, and allow them to not report duplicate titles for HTML pages that are accessible from different URLs. Use a relative URL without the initial slash; canonical URLs that point to a different domain are normally not accepted." Can you explain that in English? |

Hi Dana,
You don't need to set anything under Canonical URL's, that's an advanced feature you can ignore. To create a blog you want Create Content->Blog, not page (which is to create new pages). Also, do not paste directly from Word, click on the Paste from Word button then paste ( I prefer the paste as text, but Word should work). Otherwise Word code will screw things up. |

Hi Dom,
I get the same result if I try to create a blog, just tried it. I pasted in plain text from my clipboard and formatted it in the WP on the site. I hit save and it does not save, just throws the "page not found" error. ??? Same if I hit "preview" rather than save. |

Email me the text so I can try. It might be triggering a hacking attempt on the server which will then block it (I tightened some of the security settings a few days ago).

I had exactly the same problem last night and here is how I solved it. I was copying pages from my old site to my new one and had been successful several times before without having a problem. I did everything exactly the same but one page just would "stick". So I set up a new page with only a couple of words of content. I then opened this page and edited the page. Then I cut and pasted my old page from the old web site into the content section and it worked perfectly. Don't ask me why. Hope this helps.

Hey Steve,
Welcome to the message boards. This is one of the things on my to-do list tonight. I know it has to do with the security settings cranked too high, I just need to figure out which setting. |
