TOPIC: Website Review

Website Review 14 years 10 months ago #26185

After shockingly finding my website at the top of Google, I was in a panic to complete my website to at least make it presentable.  I had to cut a lot out of it and write all of my content as quick as possible.

Please review my website and I'll be happy to take any criticism or advice to improve it.

Mark, what I ended up doing, was asking friends and neighbors to review my site as a consumer would. I received a lot of really great information that way.

I was getting a ton of organic hits to my sites through search engines and the phone didn't ring. I knew at that time that, my content sucked. The info that I got from my friends was like this:

When a person logs onto your site, that screen that you see, you have to hook the person in that screen. If you don't have them hooked there, their gone. I didn't have enough information explaining who I was or what I was providing to the client. I also had menus of webpages out the wazoo. The thought here is if the site is overwhelming people are gone.

I had the same homepage content as you do, and 60% of HIP users do. That content is on inspectors sites all over the web. I just kept a small amount of it and changed things around.

Keep images to a minimum. My site resembled a NASCAR and that was a problem. I had images in the homepage text and people found it annoying. I still have images on the page, just organized differently.

Well the critique worked. As soon as I recovered from the SEO hit that I took for renovating the site, the phone started to ring.

The point is to have the consumer review the website, what they say counts!

Good luck
