What is a blog page? I'm not sure what to do with the blog page. Just an old dog learning new tricks! Thanks for any help!

Blogs are alternatively called web logs or weblogs. However, "blog" seems less likely to cause confusion, as "web log" can also mean a websites server log files (statistics).
It's great for SEO as it allows you to add new content regulary that's related to home inspections. Preferably once a week take something you found and write a few paragraphs on it. Make sure to include that you were performing a home inspection in x city. Jay has a good example on www.jaymarinspect.com/blog , look on the left to see all his others. Many other sites on here have more. |

I have noticed that if you have a news feed on your website that you can blog the articles. Would you recommend doing this?
If you blog the article it only shows part of it and then the viewer has to click on a link that directs them away from you page. Would it be better then if you want to blog an article that you go to the source and copy it in full, then post it to your blog? Does this cause duplication in websites and damage your ranking? |

John- a lot of people re-post news items, blog posts - anything, really. What I would recommend is taking the post, summarizing it into bullet points, expand it using your own wording and research, and then create a new blog post out of it.
If it's something you'd really like on your website, you can probably re-post the entire thing, as long as you give proper credit to the article writer and provide a link to the original post. If you do put the whole thing, it helps to add your opinion at the end of it, like you're discussing it. That's just my 2 cents. |

I agree with Mike. Either summarize it and then talk about it, or paste the whole thing and then comment on it at the end and make sure to link back to the original article as well to give credit. Since you're adding to the page it's not going to hurt your ranking (duplication doesn't really hurt your rank, it just doesn't help you). Adding in your own comment on it will help out, the more your write the better.

When you set up your blog you can have it set up to be expanded and it shows a list of blog titles in the navigation menu. This list can get awful long, don't you agree? Is there a way that it can show like 3 or 4 of the newest blogs, but not all of them? Similar to how the news feeds list the newest, but not all of the feeds.
