The fonts are actually from your Windows fonts. Every computer will have different fonts depending on what version of Windows you have, any fonts you've installed separately directly or from other programs.

Yes, it would be the same on your Mac.

Yes, having a list of True Type Fonts "that work without issue" or "Standard System Fonts" would be very helpful.  Even better would be to see a sample of the font, too.  After upgrading to version 4, I have to change just about every font in my template and check each one by generating a report to see if it shows up on a pdf.  In other words...it's trial and error.

Is there an easier way?

Unfortunately there's thousands and thousands of fonts on the internet that anyone can download. There's very few that don't work. The fonts that don't work are ones that aren't setup correctly as a TTF, it really has little to do with HIP.
