You must have other problems going on other than softyware for a townhome to take 9 hrs.

Kevin, call in and do a training session with Wayne. You gotta be missing out on some major features and basically rewriting the software on every report. There's no way it should take you that long.

Wayne....this is who I do the training with? Great! I will set this up.  And yes every inspection I have been adjusting the template to better fit the report to my needs, yet I feel so far from where I should be.  Although I am very happy with a quick PDF conversion, ISN integration, and a shorter report. The longest report I have had has only been 25 Pages... and that house would have been about 80-90 pages previously.  I just dream of the day I can leave an inspection and be virtually done.  Maybe I will even get to see my family again!

Kevin,  This is exactly why I push using your own template.  While Wayne can teach you to move around the program, he doesn't know your inspection protocols.  Every inspector should come up with their own inspection process and STICK WITH IT.  It is when you change things during the inspection process that you can forget things.

Once you have your inspection process figured out, then you can put together your template to follow along.  Unless you are booked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 a year, you have lots of time and days off to WORK at your template.   Isn't that why they put commercials and half time on the tv?  It is part of your JOB and if you spend this time now, it will give you more free time in the future.  I add / delete / and change things on almost a daily basis to my master template.

Literally, draw a diagram on paper, a blueprint if you will, of your inspection process.  Start a blank template and put it together from scratch using your blueprint as the basis.  It is easy.  You can copy / paste comments from other templates or your own accumulated libraries and put them in an order most commonly used.  No sense in having the most common phrase at the very bottom of your comments where you would have to search or tab down when converting to mobile.

If you need help and Wayne is busy adjusting his fantasy sports roster......  oh wait, he never does that....really, he never does....  then just hop online.  There are plenty of us HIPPIES that can private message or chat with you to get past the humps.

Now, go inspect something or work on your new template.   ;)

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball infield, the click of a wooden bat and the taste of a hot dog at a warm sunny daytime double-header.

Kevin, make sure you listed to Stephen. He's a super smart, really old fart that recently went from spending an hour or two at home to finishing most of his inspection on site using HIP Mobile. He's always been open to all changes except mobile has he thought his eye site would do him in. Turns out the font size adjustment made it so even he can read it!! He's a master and adjusting his template to make life easier and has actually made a few good suggestions on new features for HIP that have made it in ;)

Kevin...Absolutely design your own template! Your template is your "baby"!...I have 100's & 100's of hrs into my template!
Surf the net, look at other's, get ideas!....but build your own!

You should be able to do a report in less than an hour! By choice I don't finish my reports on site...But if I had to, I could.
*Always Be Modifying Your Template Comments
*Have comments frequently used near the top of your list
*Group comments together ...ie; Wood shingle comments should not be mixed with asphalt shingle comments
*Your template should follow your inspection order
*As Stephen mention...create a diagram/outline of your template
