TOPIC: New template that goes system by system

Re: New template that goes system by system 12 years 8 months ago #47533

There's two comment types in the program. What you have are damage panels for observations. Selection panels are meant for materials, manufactures, etc. They show on the screen like damage panels but without black/red as you only select them, you're not rating them (fact vs observation). They can also be a different color on the report.

Check out the default template and look at sections like Attic->Insulation which has a combo of 2 selection panels and 1 damage panel and see how it shows on the report.

Hi Scott...

Good to see you on the HIP side!  I used 3D from 2004, and just switched to HIP in December.  I used Dominic's import program for 3D; and then went through my HIP template and created Damage & Selection Panels.  Here is a link with the same report in HIP and 3D(I've already made some changes-but you'll get the idea).

Like you, I really new 3D inside and out; and switching to HIP has been the best decision!  Just don't get trapped trying to do certain task the same way in HIP as you may have done them in 3D.  Dominic has streamlined what we had to do; no more compiling, no more custom form studio, simpler layout design- yet nicer looking report..etc.

True Bob...With HIP summary info jump's out at you more which is a good thing.

Date input and selection is totally different between the two software's. I don't know how many inspectors do this...but I make big use of  .  While perform an inspection if can't find the comment I need in 3-5msecs  max, I move on.
