TOPIC: more colour choice for selected items than red/ black

It may be just the area I am in but it seems everyone here is a weekend warrior when it comes to fixing up the home. I am considering breaking down the reports, for those fix it types, into several categories ie  Basic DIY, Advanced DIY,  Consult a pro, Licensed Only. etc  I have  many years in the building industry and spent seven years in a big box store as  Pro Desk and Installed Sales Manager so I have a pretty good idea of what projects are at what level. It seems to me it could be done easily if there were more font colors to chose from for comments than red and black. What do you think of the idea?

Welcome to the forums!

Click on Report Settings->Formatting and you can change the red/black into any color you want. Then you have the selection panel color which you can change as well.

When we were first designing the program years ago we surveyed hundreds of non inspectors and agents trying to find what is the best looking report. This was also driven by a franchise of all women who use the program in New Zealand. What we found out was that using too many colors ends up making the report too hard to read. As it is now you can change the border, the page titles, the item titles, the photo captions, the normal & serious damage items, the material items and probably a few other things I'm forgetting!

We will be adding the option in to italicize and bold within comments (you can already do it to an entire comment) but I don't know i we'll be adding the ability to break things down even more unless their is a large desire for it. Part of the draw to the program is the great response guys gets from everyone involved in the transaction and we want to make sure it stays that way!

I would also like the option of changing the color of the comments to something other than red or black. I went to Report settings then formating, but that only changed the header and borders for me. Most of my comments are red and black, but there are times I would like to add a note in a different color.

You can change the red/black by Report Settings->Formatting and editing normal & serious damage fonts. You can also change the selection font and now the photo caption font, item description font and a few other items. Only a few things left aren't changeable and those are being worked on.

With having a 3rd color (which is what I think you're also saying) would you want that on the summary too or just within the report?

    the third colour would be useful to me in the comment area. I cant say it would be something I would use alot, but I have had a few occasions that I would have liked to made a comment stick out with out it being in Red.

I think a third color in the damage panels would be awesome! I would use this a lot for items that you want the client to monitor, but are not serious defects yet. Other programs use clip art type icons for this and that makes the report look cheesy. I don't think they should populate in the summary though, that would confuse things.
