Yeah, I've been in lots of homes without fans. I just tell them that after the mildew on the ceiling starts to bug them, they will want to put a fan in. Most agree.

Around here it depends on the year built and the County.  But why in the world wouldn't you want a vent fan in the separated WC!!

as unpractical it may be the IRC still permits batrooms to be naturally ventilated. the minimum reguirement is a wimdow with aggregate glazing of 3 sq/ft one half of which must be operable. if the space does not meet the minimum requirement then it must be mechanically ventelated with an exhaust fan capable of 50cfm. chapter 3 code article R303.3 IRC 2006
