TOPIC: Bathroom Venting Question

Bathroom Venting Question 14 years 6 months ago #32170

I think I know the answer, but just checking. Does there have to be a vent in the bathroom if there is one installed in the the toilet room. Toilet room is a separate room off of master. There is a window that opens in bathroom. Home built in 2006.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no. Couldn't find anything on it in the IRC either.

If there is a window, no. But, it may get a bit steamy and damp in the winter months when I am sure the window will not be opened  up.

I agree there should be one, but I couldn't find anything that says there has to be one if there is an openable window.

Can you tell what size of room it's made for?  Maybe if it's a large enough motor/fan for the size of area, it would be Ok.

I think if you have an OPERATING window, you aren't required to have a mechanical fan.  But the window has to open for this to apply.  Thinking about it a little, I can think of plenty of homes I've been in with no vent fan.
