I am doing a lot of inspections on foreclosures. Some are very nice. Some are horrific! You don't hardly want to touch anything in the house. There are times I will not take my bags of stuff into the house (tools, computer, printer) for fear of bringing something home. Instead I just take in the tools I might need and go back to my truck to get something more if needed. In the event that I don't do the report on site, I tell the clients I will do the report later and email it, or go to the realtor's office afterward and do it there with everyone present.
Even if you aren't doing foreclosures, do you sanitize your hands? I sometimes eat something between inspections and wonder what I am also taking in! I have a good hand sanitizer in the glove compartment and use it right away. How about you? |

Ya, so far I don't really have to worry about eating between inspections. I'm still trying to get one inspection a week here!

I always use the hand sanitizer. Sometimes more than once per inspection.

I keep a bottle in the truck and I should use it more often--no is my answer Jay. I will now though--you bring up a great point regarding foreclosures...me too. Lot of them.
John, don't dispair brother. One a week is a great goal. I hoped at first for one per month. Earlier this week I had none, then the phone rang and I got one, then two, then three. Tomorrow is four, Sunday is five, Monday is six. The I have no idea. Save when I can, work when I can (and when the phone rings). When I'm not inspecting, and since the pool is closed I spend time on the computer working SEO. I joined the Chamber of Commerce and gained a couple inspections from that network. Joined Kiwanis because it's fun and probably will get a few inspections from that. So, the inspections will improve. Be ready! And when it happens, hang on! |

My daughter is just finishing up her degree and becoming an RN. She has worked in a pediatric doctor's office for a number of years. She tells me stories about the doctor's office and things I can pick up and I have heard her. MRSA is the worst, and very serious.
I bring it up also because we are creatures of habits. We often touch our eyes, nose, mouth or eat something in our trucks. Who knows what is in these houses. I go into houses that are so frightful, I will not take my stuff inside! Then I am expected to test (touch) everything! Yummie! |
