I put in a report that I could not locate the test button for a hard wired smoke detector. The realtor later told me that she had an agent who advised her that her home inspetor said hard wired smoke detectors are not "required" to have test buttons. I thought that was strange as my home has hard wired smoke detectors and they have a test button. Comments?

You actually believed something that came from an agents mouth?!?!
Smoke detectors attached to security systems are different from the "standard" hardwired detectors. I don't test the detectors attached to the security systems because the fire dept shows up. They may or may not have test buttons. "Regular" hardwired detectors should have test buttons. |

Mine has the ability to still run a test from the keypad. I'm sure most have the same option.
