I was asked by a realtor yesterday if I knew of anything that could get rid of a smoke smell. He has a listing where the folks were smokers and he is having a hard tome getting rid of the smell. I told him I would do some reseach. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance Preston Sandlin |

Depends how bad it is, the smoke is in/on everything. Furniture, walls, floors(Carpet)
It may require a restoration type service. Carpet may need replacing, walls painting. Or he can place a dozen air fresheners around the house to mask odors. Just kidding. |

Preston:
Launder draperies, shampoo carpet, wash/paint walls, change the furnace filter, clean ductwork and use lots of vinegar to clean with and set open containers out with vinegar in them. It will suck up a lot of the oder. John |

Some good ideas are dust the carpet with baking powder. It will soak up a lot of it. It take time to absorb odor. Don't be afraid to use a lot. I know that many hotels use ozonator's. A small electrical unit that produces ozone. These units cost around 400 - 500 for an inexpensive model. Do not use an ozonator while people or pets are in the home. It will give you a serious irritated, scratchy and dry throat. It may take several uses of the machine.
