Just looking for some general feedback regarding doing radon testing. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the time and hassle to add this to my list of inspections. I would appreciate any feedback on the following questions:
-Do you do Radon Inspections? Why or why not? - What % of your clients ask for a radon inspection? - What do you charge? -Do you have a seperate contract? Thanks for the help. There seems like there is so much we can do I don't want to be extending myself too much therefore becoming a master of nothing but I do want to offer inspections that the "fan base" (customers) want. |

Yes I do radon testing. Realtors like one stop shopping. I like the addition money. Most people do not understand the concerns of radon and if it is explained when booking the inspection then more clients will opt for the additional test. I would say 1 out of 5. Fee depends on distance from office and if an inspection is being performed. $100-$150 I do not have a seperate contract but I erase the radon from my general contract when I set up the general inspection. Where are you from?? I get a lot of calls for mitigation as well, and I may get educated so I can offer the service. |

David, I'm in Portland Oregon.
What do you mean you erase the radon from your general contract? If I'm understanding the process correctly all your doing is setting the test can (I know there is more to it then that) then comming back a few days later, sending the can to the lab and communicating the results. Basicaly you're getting paid to do the leg work? Go you give your client a written radon report? (I love it how one question or in my case four original questions) lead to many more questions. |

Yes, I provide a radon report using Home Inspector pro.
My contract states I do not test for radon when I do a general inspection, so I just elimanate the word radon. A special contract is not needed as radon requires a state license and the EPA has guidelines. You need to follow a QA/QP program. Quality Assurance and protection. |
