TOPIC: It is like Christmas eve at Macy's

I thought January was good until February, I thought February was good until March, I thought March was good until April. I know the breaks may come to a halting screech when the tax credit expires but the business I have had this month has been like Christmas eve at Macy's.

I am only a one man operation and trying to accommodate the volume of calls and business has been difficult at best.

I own 4 radon monitors and had to send one in for calibration the result is a early morning or late night trip to set one up as soon as I get one in. As soon as one is done it goes out.

Difficult to inspect and answer the phone at same time so an answering service would of been a good decision earlier in the year. I do like to talk to people but, People call asking for a next day inspection and have been booked up at least 3-5 days out.

This month all I have done is inspect, report. I had Easter off, and I enjoy the 30 minutes with my son in the morning playing ball before school, Many of these times have been interrupted by calls. My dog is getting fat as are walk time is down to maybe 2,3X a week instead of daily.

The grass is long and it may not get cut until May.

I am sure most of you are experiencing the same as people are rushing in for that last minute inspection before Christ is born or Risen, wait I was going off the deep end there.

Oh sellers inspections up and Have one booked for 5/1/10, so may is starting out great!!

That's awesome Dave, I'm glad to hear you're keeping so busy and that your report time is way down. Eventually you may want to consider America's Call Center. I've talked with the owner Paul a few times. Very nice guy and everyone I know using their business really likes it.

Yesterday I had a cancellation for Monday and within 15 minutes I had that time rescheduled.
Lost 2 more jobs due to needing done ASAP and I am booked until Tuesday.

I am really looking forward to the 6AM drive to set up a radon as I needed to wait to get a monitor back.

I finished up real quick with morning job and had some time in between tio walk dog and look at my grass and figure it can go to seed!!

On to inspection #2.

Time to hire someone to pickup/dropoff radon monitors.

1st quarter of 2009 I had 1 inspection, the 1st quarter of 2010 I had 14 inspections. 1400% increase, thanks to the websites and some referrals, but the referrals were from clients that found me through the website. The client I had today was a 3rd generation referral.

Client 1 found me on the website, he then referred me to his brother-in-law(client 2), then Client 2 referred me to his mother(client 3) did her inspection today, she is giving my card to a co-worker who is looking for a house, so a possible 4 clients from one search engine result.
