TOPIC: Pellet Stove Venting

Pellet Stove Venting 14 years 9 months ago #27529

Does anyone know off hand if the venting on a pellet stove has to follow the 3 foot rule from an opening or window? Ran across on one today that vents between a sliding glass door and window.

What was the brand name of the stove?  Probably able to look it up online for their specs.

Aside from being a dangerously low, thin and vulnerable vent, it is too close to the door and the window.

Pellet stoves put out really hot exhaust.  They are very efficient mechanisms and almost all I have seen have specific requirements as to placement and venting.  Casey probably hits the nail on the head.

That is what I figured, but it was the first one I have come across so just checking.

Jay hit it...too low, looks flimsy.  Is it PVC venting or tin, I can't tell from the picture.
I've never encountered a pellet stove, but yes, from what I've read, they vent very hot gases.

I see them now and again.  They are very good heaters, super efficient, but the pellets are way expensive, necessarily.  They look like rabbit food and there is a small hopper which moves the pellets into a little tub where they burn.  Only 2 or 3 are burning at any given time.
