TOPIC: Inspection and closing next day

I got a call from a guy that said he is a GC. He has a client that needs a home inspection on new construction. He had his guy go to the house and there is issues with the foundation and the A/C. The client is closing tomorrow and he needs a licensed inspector to go and confirm the issues, before closing and then he will correct the issues after closing. He was not able to give me an address, but did have a client name. I asked him to have the client contact me to discuss and to give me an address. He didn't ask for me to do anything untoward, he did mention he was looking for some "professional courtesy". I have never heard of an inspection one day and closing the next. It has now been 45 minutes since the call, and the client has not called me. Sounds fishy to me. What do you guys think?

How the hell did he not know the address of the house he was selling?  ??? ??? I am assuming that he is the seller since he was the builder. I'd tell him that my "Special" professional courtesy rate is double your regular rate. The whole thing doesn't sound cool.

Drew, he was a GC, he wasn't selling the house and he did not build it. He was going to fix the foundation and the AC, but needed a licensed inspector to file a report saying there was an issue. I think what he wanted was for me to just sign off on what he said, without really doing an inspection, and then he would pay me my rate so he could do the work. The client has yet to call back and neither has he. He was looking for a quick buck.

Gotcha, I thought something different. The whole situation does sound weird though.

Dom, I don't think they really wanted an inspection. The GC wanted to meet me at the house. He wanted to show me what his worker had found. The client was going to be there. I think he wanted to show me what he found, pay me and have me write a report in his favor so he could do the work. He said he needed a licensed inspector to file a report so the lawyers could see. It would have been totally illegal here. He never called back and the client never called.
