As the title suggests, I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck running HIP mobile on a Chromebook. I'm under the impression that many Chromebooks now run Android apps, anyone doing this or know if it can be done? My current Chromebook doesn't run Android apps, but I'm thinking I'll replace it if I can run HIP mobile.

Hi Matthew,
We don't have an app specifically designed for or tested on Chrome OS yet. The Android app has only been tested on Android devices, and it may not install or behave predictably on a Chrome OS device. Another problem you might run into is that the app requires a rear-facing camera and many Chromebooks don't have that. I would definitely suggest testing the software on the device first if you are considering purchasing a new device that will primarily be used for inspecting with the HIP app. -Emily |

There are a few Chromebooks that do run HIP Mobile and as Emily stated they need a rear facing camera which most do not have.

Ok, Thanks to both of you for the quick reply! I do not intend to use the onboard camera, though I'm gathering the program won't work if it doesn't detect the presence of a rear camera. I'm looking for a user-friendly way to use my dslr with a wifi sd card and HIP Mobile. This works ok with my phone but I've run into a few issues that make it not reliable enough for business use, mainly the phone disconnects from the sd card's wifi repeatedly throughout my inspection. For whatever reason, I can maintain a connection to other devices.
