TOPIC: convert pdf to hzf

convert pdf to hzf 8 years 3 months ago #63126

I accidently clicked not to save an inspection but had previously saved the generated report in adobe as a pdf. Is there any way to convert that back to the hzf file and reload it back into HIP?

Mobile or desktop?

Are you saying it was never saved at any point during the inspection?

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball infield, the click of a wooden bat and the taste of a hot dog at a warm sunny daytime double-header.

I guess only at the point at where I uploaded my pictures, because if I open it they are all there but no captions and no report content.

I do not believe there is a converter for PDF to HZF.  I think you are stuck.  You should never go more than a main tab before hitting save.  I highly recommend you go to Report Settings, Options, Auto Save and turn it on to 10 minutes.  Or at the very least get in the habit of saving after each tab.  This was drilled in to me when I was learning a specialized report system back in 1991.

You might be able to do a 1/2 screen with the PDF open on one side and HIP open on the other and then copy / paste.  If you do it this way, find a regular mouse and don't try to use a touch pad.  It will save you time and your sanity.  Hopefully you have the PDF settings so you are able to copy.

Stephen is right on. A PDF is the equivalent of a printed piece of paper. It's not a format that can just be opened. If you used mobile you could reopen that inspection. As Stephen mentioned, definitely turn on autosave!

Yeah I do have it set to save at 10 mins, but I am also guilty of clocking out of that some times. Live and learn.
Thanks for your help, both.
