TOPIC: Damage panels and Selection panels

Damage panels and Selection panels 8 years 5 months ago #63047

So this might be a very silly question, but I am hoping that someone can answer me because I have been trying to figure this out for the past 2 days and I don't think there is an option for us to do this.

I currently have tabs that only have a damage panel. Is there a way to edit that tab and add a selection panel to it?? What I did (and it took forever) was added a new tab with 1 damage and 1 selection panel and just started copying and pasting the info. For example: I had a driveway material tab and a driveway condition tab each with only 1 damage panel. I am now trying to integrate those two into one tab. Why I didn't do this in the beginning boggles my mind, but it is what it is. There is no way to just edit the current tabs I have and add selection panels?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David,

I'm not a HIP expert, but I do not believe you can change your template in that fashion.  What I do is rename the panel that you are wanting to change, maybe add "OLD" to the end of the name, then create the new panel (damage, selection, damage/selection, etc), then within the "Edit Comments" feature I copy and paste my comments, narratives, etc. over from the xxxxOLD tab to the newly created one and then lastly go and delete the xxxxOLD panel from the "Edit Template" module.  You can highlight all of the comments and use CTRL-C to copy, then go to the newly created panel click in the blank white box for comments and hit CTRL-V

Make sense?

Barry,

Thanks a lot!! I think that might just work.... I'm still toggling back and forth and trying to see whats going to work better... Selection panels or just Damage panels (how I currently have my template set up), But I am definitely going to try that out. Thanks again Barry. really do appreciate it.

I just tried that and now I remember why I didn't do that! You have to double click every comment/narrative and then copy and paste. Thats a pain in the butt especially if you have an extensive set of narratives. I guess I'm just going to have to slowly and with time convert the panels I need selection panels for. Thanks again Barry. Maybe I'm doing something wrong so if there is another way to do this please advise. Thank you

You're missing one important step.  Click on the top comment in the panel. It will change to Blue. Then hit "ctrl A". Now all of the comments are blue. Next, go to the bar above the comment section and there is a "Copy" button. Hit the "Copy" button.  Then go to the panel you want to drop all of the comments into and click on a white space. Then back up to the top bar and hit "Paste". They all show up in the new area. Make sure to name the box your moving to a different name than the one you're moving from. Hope this helps.

Steve,

Thank you!!! Man you just saved so much time.... Both you and Barry, thank you fellas..... IT WORKED!!! What's funny is I saw the copy and paste there at the top but never did it occur to me to use that rather than my keyboard... Thanks again!!!
